white bread GOOD for you?
I have another quick ‘look younger’ nutrition lesson for you today…
And unlike most nutrition tips — more veggies, less sugar, no more fun…
This one is actually GOOD news!
After all, it’s not every day that a doctor tells you to eat more white bread.
Whoa, hold on a second. Isn’t white bread loaded with carbs…
Which convert to sugar…
Which causes skin-aging glycation (not to mention a thicker waistline)?
Well, yes — most of the time.
But there is ONE type of white bread that doesn’t cause that usual avalanche of side effects…
Sourdough!
You see, sourdough bread is a low-glycemic food, meaning its carbs release into your bloodstream much more slowly…
Giving your body extra time to break them down properly (rather than flooding your system all at once and spiking your blood sugar).
In fact, sourdough comes in at just 53 on the glycemic index — and anything under 55 is considered low.
That means it’s even better for you than the whole wheat bread most people mistakenly think are best...
And it can help you avoid glycation damage — keeping skin smooth, supple, and youthful.
This is great news for bread lovers! Sourdough is delicious and chewy, just like your favorite baguette or ciabatta roll…
Plus it has an extra tang that I personally love.
Even better, that extra “tang” comes from the probiotics used to make the bread rise…
Making it great for your digestive health too — helping to reduce bloating, gas, and irregularity.
So next time you’re ready to order a burger without the bun (we’ve all been there) or pass on that turkey sandwich…
Remember, you DO have a healthy, ‘look younger’ option — and it’s delicious! :)
