When it comes to preparing for summer, there’s something you may be forgetting...
Your hair.
More time in the sun means your hair will be more prone than ever to damage — and your hair needs protection just as much as your skin does.
But it’s not just sun exposure that’s to blame…
For instance, did you know that your air conditioner can dry out your hair?
It’s true — and it’s just one of the many factors that can damage your hair as the weather gets warmer.
Here are a few other summertime “hair culprits”:
- Humidity causes unwanted frizz and flyaways
- Chlorine makes hair look dull and brassy
- Salt water strips hair of its natural moisture
- Wind causes dryness and split ends
Now, when you’re younger, your hair is able to “bounce back” from damage on its own...
But as you age, your hair starts to lose this resilience — and it needs a little extra help repairing itself.
So today, I want to share a simple way to replenish lost moisture and restore your hair’s natural shine — and it’s a tip I share with all my clients during this time of year.
I call it my “hydration renewal hair mask” — and it’s something you can do right before you wash your hair.
This mask replenishes your hair’s natural moisture, using three hydrating ingredients:
- Argan oil to soften dry, brittle hair
- Honey to promote healthy hair and lock in moisture
- Fresh rosemary to strengthen hair follicles and encourage hair growth1
1. In a medium saucepan, combine 2 tablespoons of argan oil with 2 tablespoons of fresh rosemary.
2. Heat over low heat for 10-15 minutes, then transfer to a small mixing bowl.
3. Whisk in 2 tablespoons of honey while warm until it is smooth and creamy.
4. Once it has cooled, use your fingers to massage the mask into your hair, starting at the scalp and working towards the ends.
5. Wrap your hair in a towel or shower cap, and let the mask sit for 30 minutes.
6. Rinse out with cold water, then wash your hair as usual. After you’re done, you’ll immediately notice how much softer your hair looks and feels.
recommend applying this mask every 1-2 weeks — so your hair stays healthy and hydrated all summer long.
And if you want to get a head start, try this mask this weekend — to give your hair a hydration boost before the weather gets too hot!
So whatever your summer has in store — whether you’re planning a tropical island getaway, or you’re simply planning to spend more time in the sun…Your hair will be ready!
